Well Meaning Advice

When people know you're trying to make a baby anyone who has a kid already tries to give you advice. If someone hasn't been through infertility, most of their ideas come from old wives tales and things they've heard. A lot of the most common ones aren't even true. So for someone who knows that, it can be super annoying to hear the same things over and over. Usually I just smile and nod, but boy is it frustrating.

Advice I find the most annoying:

  1. JUST RELAX (yes because I can just make my documented and medicated anxiety, go away)

  2. Positive Thinking (it's hard when you see negative after negative)

  3. It'll happen when you least expect it (at this point I always expect it to fail)

  4. Pray on it, I'll pray for you (please stop, I don't believe in god)

  5. diet/exercise will solve all your problems (been there, done that, do you see a baby? Are my PCOS and Endo fixed now?)

I know people do this because they care but if you have a loved one who is struggling with infertility and you've never been through it, you know what's the #1 thing you can do? LISTEN. Sometimes the most helpful thing is just to let them lean on you a little, this burden is heavy.
