Trying to gather all the info...

CD1 finally came around and that meant it was time to book all my baseline tests. My RE wants as much information as possible before coming up with our official game plan. I would say overall, the issues were stuff I knew about and there was some good news as well (when I say that, I'm talking about what I see in my results, I haven't met with the doctor yet to go over it).

First I went in for bloodwork and an ultrasound. The bloodwork showed that my hormones are off....which as a woman with PCOS, I knew but I found out that my FSH and AMH are normal for a woman my age which is such a relief. Those two hormones indicate my Ovarian reserve and my ability to grow follicles. So I got eggs! One less thing to worry about! (I now only hear that in Daveed Diggs voice from Hamilton). It was weird having my ultrasound on CD 3, and by weird I mean gross. Because of my PCOS, I have had dates with the internal ultrasound machine (affectionately called Wanda) before but this felt a lot more thorough and official. Like usual, I have quite a few small cysts and my big cyst, whom I call Cysty McCysterson, is still large and in charge. Cysty causes both my ovaries to be pulled behind my uterus and fused together. It continually grows slowly, right now it's 58mm. I'm still convinced that Cysty is the reason I had an ectopic.

A week later, I had an HSG test (hysterosalpingogram). In this test they shoot dye in my uterus and take an xray to check and see if the uterus and tubes are clear. Because I'm stupid, I looked up lots of experiences on the internet talking about how painful and horrible it was, so I was super nervous. I took motrin before going like the doctor said and it was just some minor cramps. They let me look at the image when it was done (I asked if I could take a picture of it but they said no). The dye went through my tubes which means they're clear (YES!). One tube is twisted up behind my uterus (damn you Cysty!) so the Physicians Assistant who did it said she can't say with 100% certainty that that one isn't being blocked, but seeing the tubes on the image made me feel so hopeful.
All in all, I think that I have some hormonal problems but I'm not a lost cause! We need some science but we will make a baby! Now I just have to wait for our follow up next week, I can't wait to hear what the RE has to say and what our plan is.
