It worked! It finally worked!
I was impatient and tested early and honestly couldn't believe that it was positive. Because I've had a chemical before, I then tested....twice a day to make sure the line was not going away. The first beta was good, a 64 but I knew the real test would be the second beta. As expected, I was extremely nervous but once that 248 came through, I couldn't believe it. Could this really have worked? After all this am I finally getting a baby?
I have my first ultrasound scheduled for 6 1/2 weeks and honestly nerves couldn't be higher. The last time I had had an ultrasound for a baby was my ectopic. Looking at an empty uterus expecting a baby was just heart breaking and I was so terrified of that happening again. I mentally prepared myself for the worst.
But the baby was there! Not only that, our little bean had a nice strong heart beat! It was amazing to finally see. On the way out, all the nurses clapped because they knew how scared I had been. I felt so special, like a success, finally. My baby is due October 29th.
Thankfully, my only really bad symptom was exhaustion. I needed to take a nap every day after work because I just couldn't make it through a full day anymore. I almost wonder if because I had to mess with my hormones so much for IVF that my body was just use to it by now and that's why I didn't have any morning sickness (I know I'm lucky right?).
We made our next ultrasound for 8 weeks and the waiting was brutal. On one hand I was so excited to see my baby again, on the other, I knew all too well that something could go wrong at any moment. When the day finally came, there the baby was, with a nice strong 172bmp heart rate. It was also measuring a day bigger too! Because I now had two successful ultrasounds, I now "graduated" from my IVF clinic. They gave me a mug and a onesie for my little one and sent my records to my regular OB/GYN. This was it, I was finally a regular pregnant woman! Now I just needed to keep that baby hanging on.
